A WordCamp without Wapuu, is not a Fun at all, So we decided to sketch our very own नाशिकचा वापू, “Napuu” 🙂 to represent WordCamp Nashik 2016!
わぷー(Wapuu) is the official mascot of Japanese WordPress Community. The idea was first mentioned in 2009 at the WordCamp Tokyo after-party, where Matt Mullenweg asked Japanese users for ideas to promote WordPress in Japan.
わぷー(Wapuu) the mascot is also GPL v2. This means there are many versions of the Wapuu mascot, made by many WordCamps or WordPress communities across the globe. Here’s the complete story if you want to know more.
Napuu – नाशिकचा वापू
Napuu is a linguistic blend for Nashik – Wapuu, Since the original Wapuu was born, and other WordPress communities have created their own versions, It was then decided that WordCamp Nashik needed a Wapuu.
Nashik has a personality of its own due to its mythological, historical, social and cultural importance, Nashik is very well known as a city of pilgrimage, and Kumbh Mela.
Shrines and ghats on the banks of River Godavari have made Nashik one of the holiest places all over the World.
To reveal the Identity of Nashik, We came up with the idea to introduce “NAPUU – नाशिकचा वापू”, and WordCamp Nashik Team planned to sketch it.
We plan to represent “NAPUU” as the official mascot for the event, who will be waiting, to take a Selfie with you 🙂
So, are you ready to meet “NAPUU”? Then mark your calendar for Sunday, October 16th 2016 at NEC, Nashik
